A compost-making workshop is a hands-on, interactive session that teaches participants how to turn organic waste into a nutrient-rich soil amendment. Composting is the process of breaking down organic materials, such as food scraps and yard waste, into a dark, crumbly substance that can be used to enrich soil and support plant growth.

Through non-formal education, participants will learn about the importance of composting as a sustainable practice that reduces waste and supports healthy ecosystems. They will gain practical skills for setting up and maintaining a composting system and will learn about the different types of organic materials that can be composted.

During the workshop, participants will learn how to create a compost pile or bin out of pallets, and how to monitor and adjust their compost to ensure optimal conditions for decomposition. They will also learn about the benefits of compost, such as improving soil health, reducing the need for synthetic fertilizers, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions from landfills.

After completing the compost-making workshop, participants will have gained knowledge and skills in sustainable waste management and environmental stewardship. They will have learned how to create a valuable resource from organic waste, and how to reduce their environmental impact by diverting waste from landfills. They will be able to use their new skills to create their own compost at home or to educate others about the benefits of composting.
