Human Rights QUEST

Introduction
Welcome to the EU Rights Quest, a game designed to help you learn about the rights that all EU citizens enjoy!

The EU Rights Quest playlist is an interactive journey designed to help young people discover, understand, and reflect on their rights as citizens of the European Union. Through a series of engaging and creative activities, participants will explore fundamental EU values such as democracy, equality, freedom of movement, data protection, cultural and linguistic diversity, labour rights, and more.

Each activity invites participants to learn through videos, interactive games, quizzes, real-life scenarios, and reflection questions. By completing the tasks and earning digital badges, learners will build a stronger awareness of their rights and the importance of protecting and promoting these values in their everyday lives.

This playlist is ideal for young people aged 15–30 who want to become more active, informed, and empowered European citizens. It promotes critical thinking, digital literacy, and civic engagement in a fun and accessible way.

Freedom of Speech

In this activity, participants will explore the importance of freedom of speech as a fundamental right in democratic societies. Through an interactive series of questions and a set of thought-provoking scenarios, they will learn what this right means in practice, its boundaries, and why it is essential for open dialogue, activism, and holding power to account.

Participants will be invited to reflect on real-world cases where freedom of speech is protected—or challenged—and express their views through short written responses. This activity encourages critical thinking, respectful expression of opinions, and a deeper understanding of how this right is connected to active citizenship and democracy.

By the end of the activity, participants will be able to recognize the value of free expression, understand its limitations (e.g. hate speech or disinformation), and feel empowered to use their voice constructively.

Freedom of Speech Badge Description

The Freedom of Speech Badge is awarded to participants who demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the importance of free expression as a fundamental human right. To earn this badge, participants must complete an interactive activity where they engage with activities about freedom of speech, reflect on real-world cases, and answer reflective questions based on the content.

By earning this badge, participants show their awareness of how freedom of speech operates within democratic societies and its boundaries, as well as their ability to critically assess its implications on social and political issues. This badge represents the achievement of the learner in understanding the balance between free expression and the responsibility to protect others from harm.
