Get ready to learn about effective communication!

This activity will help you raise your confidence and recognize your potential. During this activity you will understand the importance of assertive behaviour and communication as part of empowerment and will learn some techniques to boost your assertiveness, build self-esteem and perceive your strengths.

This training session will help you:
  • to react in an assertive way in personal and vocational situations;
  • to practice methods and techniques for identifying strong points, things you are good at.

Complete the following activities:
  1. Take a sheet of paper and write down up to 5 things you feel grateful for.
  2. Think what assertiveness means to you. Share with others.
  3. Get familiar with the table: Redefining assertiveness where you will find differences between assertiveness, submissive and aggressive behavior.
  4. Do a quick test: Being assertive. Additionally, you can do another on-line test or this one on-line test for assertiveness.
  5. Think of a situation when you reacted not in the way you wanted to. Imagine the same situation using the 4 steps of assertiveness. Ask them to write down your short monologues.
  6. Get familiar with a few more techniques.
  7. Take the handouts: Positive Notebook and follow the steps of instructions of activity.
  8. Get familiar with the Massage from a guardian angel and do the task. After you finish the task, answer those questions.
  9. Debriefing exercise is A letter from the future.

This activity includes best practices of Lodz Chamber of Industry and Commerce provided for the project DARE - Day One Alliance for Employment that is funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA and Norway Grants Fund for Youth Employment.
